Volunteers of the Week

Volunteering for Food on Foot brings me many gifts - I learn humility, patience and that anyone can be of service. I’ve been assisting at the feedings in Hollywood for many years and always enjoy meeting the other volunteers and listening to their experience and the lessons they’ve learned at the feedings. The most profound experience I’ve had was on Christmas Day last year. It was POURING down rain. There were over 40 soaking volunteers and 300+ drenched homeless people. As we distributed a meal and a sleeping bag to each person, I couldn’t help but wonder: Why is that they would be sleeping in the rain and I would crawl into a nice warm bed? I believe that we are put on this planet to take care of each other and Food on Foot is an amazing place to make a difference.
